Late last month, a Wisconsin resident named Lindsay was about to enter her garage to get a drink when she found someone unexpected waiting for her inside. At her feet, there was a tiny baby robin.
“[W]e have a fridge in our garage, so I was just going out to get a drink,” Lindsay, who preferred to have her last name omitted, told The Dodo. “I opened the door, and it was right there.”
The bird was staring at Lindsay with a very displeased expression on his face. Lindsay had no idea what he wanted or how he’d gotten there in the first place.
“[He] was looking at me like, ‘Hi, can you help me find my mom?’” Lindsay said in a TikTok.
Lindsay rushed to put her dog in his crate to make sure he didn’t accidentally harm the bird. After getting over her initial shock, she realized the baby was looking for food.
“He was hungry,” Lindsay said. “The first thing I noticed is that he really opened his mouth like, ‘Feed me.’”
Lindsay was excited to introduce her husband, a bird lover, to the robin. Together, they figured out how the baby wound up in their garage.
The previous day, Lindsay’s husband had been working in the garage with the door open. At some point, the baby must have come in without him noticing, and when he closed the door, the bird got trapped.
Eager to help the bird as quickly as possible, Lindsay pulled on gloves and brought him outside. She gave him some water and was even prepared to dig up some worms for him if necessary.
But within just a few minutes, the bird’s mama appeared. Somehow, she had figured out that her baby was trapped and had been anxiously waiting for him to
