When a dog rescuer named Megan saw an extremely pregnant pittie wandering a parking lot in Tennessee, the animal advocate felt a wave of empathy for the pup.
“It just broke my heart thinking about her having her babies on her own,” Megan said in a video for The Dodo.
Megan knew she needed to act quickly. The dog was clearly ready to give birth any day. If rescuers lost track of her, there would be no way to tell where her puppies were.
The dog rescuer used chicken to try and lure the pittie to safety, but the anxious mama dog wouldn’t go for it. Megan accepted that she’d have to rescue the pup once she’d given birth.
