Vinicius Orlando is a swimming pool attendant who offers cleaning and maintenance services to his clients in Goiás, Brazil.
But the other day, while on the job, he took on a whole new role — that of hero.
Last week, after arriving at a family’s home where Orlando had been cleaning the pool for three years, he noticed something was off. Even though no one was home, the family’s dog, Choquito, always runs to greet him.
That day, he didn’t.
“I thought it was strange,” Orland told The Dodo. “When I approached the pool, I saw the pool cover was wet and immediately thought, ‘He’s in there.’”
Security camera footage shows Orlando discovering the dog at the bottom of the pool — and using CPR to save his life:

“He was already unconscious when I found him,” Orlando said. “I started massaging his belly, and he began to recover.”
When the dog’s family later viewed the security camera footage, they saw Choquito had managed to access the pool area, slip inside and, after 40 minutes of trying to stay afloat, eventually sink to the bottom.
Miraculously, Orlando had arrived only a minute later — with time enough to save the dog’s life.
When Choquito began to stir, Orlando called his owner to alert him of the emergency.
“He arrived quickly, took him to the vet,” Orlando said. “All the necessary tests were performed, and now Choquito is doing very well.”
